“The Fort Collins Linden Hotel is one of the most iconic and frequently photographed buildings in Old Town. Located at the intersection of Linden and Walnut across from Old Town Square, the former hotel is now best known as the home of Nature’s Own. Just as this building provides a visual anchor to Old Town Square, CONFLUENCE aims to create a captivating and attractive anchor (along with Ginger and Baker) for the River District at the corner of Linden and Willow. To help achieve this, CONFLUENCE will feature a continuous row of planter boxes above the cornice on the Plaza Building. “We were inspired by buildings in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland where colorful window and balcony planters bring buildings to life in the summer,” said Randy Shortridge of [au]workshop the architecture firm that designed CONFLUENCE. “We hope every summer will bring a new flower display along the building’s roof line that can also be a great spot for holiday lighting in the winter,” he added.”
